Project Status:

To date, 2.5 acres have been cleared in the lower level of the Buenaventura property. The cut bush and top soil will be carefully burned, and a mix of organic decomposing tree trunk matter and manure will be mixed and worked into the top soil to create an organic fertilizer.

In March 2003, select vegetable and fruit seeds will be planted in the gardens, and small starter fruit trees will be planted along the east and southern perimeters of the property.

Tamara Newton (my sister) will be managing the organic farming project, and will work with two workers to cultivate and harvest the gardens in June 2003.

These photographs where taken on Tamara's farm, the Dos Semias Farm. Tamara has been working her farm for a couple years and has been growing fruits, vegetables, and grains including, bananas, organges, tangerines, lemons, limes, pineapple, papaya, starfruit, watermelon, yuca, tomatoes, cucumber, onions, red and green bell peppers, hot chili peppers, carrots, squash, corn, plantanos, cashews, and herbs like cilantro, basil, thyme, rosemary, etc.
