GUIDED HORSEBACK TOUR TO "LAS PILAS" NATURAL ROCK SLIDES AND SWIMMING HOLES:

About the tour:

Horseback Riding Tour to Las Pilas Horseback ride up the Buenaventura Mountain to Las Pilas on Pavas Creek, where you can swim in natural swimming pools and slide down large smooth bolders into the fresh running waters... Immerse yourself into the deep pools surrounded by jungle, waterfalls, sunshine, and the sounds of the rainforest. Experience the rainforest, see wildlife, and learn about natural medicinal plants from Gerardo, a local guide with 30 years of living in the area. Picnic lunch at Las Pilas. Return down the mountain in the early afternoon to Buenaventura on horseback.


Length of tour: 4-5 hours (All day tour)
Adventure level: Medium (some horseback riding experience recommended)
Seasonal tour: (Wet and Dry Seasons, however the trail can get very muddy during the Wet Season)
Cost: $40 per person

Las Pilas Hike up the Buenaventura Mountain to Las Pilas on Pavas Creek, where you can swim in natural swimming pools and slide down large smooth bolders into the fresh running waters... Length of tour: 5-6 hours (All day tour)
Adventure level: Medium (Moderate hiking)
Seasonal tour: (Wet and Dry Seasons, however the trail can get very muddy during the Wet Season)
Cost: $25 per person






GUIDED HORSEBACK OR HIKING TOUR TO LOS SANTOS WATERFALLS:

Los Santos Waterfalls About the tour:

Horseback ride or Hike up the mountain to "El Mirador", a look-out point with views of two 200+ foot waterfalls in the distance. Horseback ride or Hike through the rainforest along a trail leading up to the waterfalls and enter the Los Santos Forest Reserve to the base of one of the waterfalls (pictured on the right).

Length of tour: 4-5 hours (All day tour)
Adventure level: High (Only for the Adventurous - horseback riding and hiking through the Los Santos Forest Reserve is medium to high adventure)
Seasonal tour: (Dry Season only - can be done in the wet season, but you will get very muddy)
Cost: $40 per person (includes $5 fee for entrance to Buenaventura Eco-Adventure Park & Private Wildlife Refuge Reserve)





GUIDED HORSEBACK TOUR TO COMMUNITY OF EL BRUJO:

Horseback riding through the rainforest About the tour:

Horseback ride along the dirt road to the local community town of El Brujo (The Wizard). Visit this local rural town by horseback and meet local ticos who live in El Brujo. Picnic lunch served along river.

Length of tour: 4 hours (Half-day tour)
Adventure level: Easy (minimal horseback riding experience necessary)
All Season tour: (Wet and Dry Seasons)
Cost: $40 per person

Length of tour: 4 hours (Half-day tour)
Adventure level: Easy (minimal horseback riding experience necessary)
All Season tour: (Wet and Dry Seasons)
Cost: $40 per person



Free Activities & Attractions:


Rejuvenating at the fall BuenaFortuna Waterfall

Located within a few minutes from Buenaventura's Main Lodge, the BuenaFortuna Waterfall can be reached along the trail that leads up the Buenaventura Mountain. There is a one-person water hole that can be reached from the trail, and you can also hike up the falls to a point where you can stand under the water cascading down from high above and massage yourself into bliss.

Find a comfortable place to sit down below the Sacred Cieba (La Cieba Sagrada) to meditate or relax after a day of activities. La Cieba Sagrada is located along the river and is said to be between 400-600 years old. Buenaventura can also arrange ceremonies, rituals, weddings and anniversary vows under La Cieba Sagrada.



Division River Rio Division Swimming Hole

Located near the Buenaventura Ceiba Tree near the entrance to Buenaventura, this swimming hole is a great place to cool off after a day of hiking or horseback riding up on the mountain.



Soccer Field Multi-use Sports Field

Located in front of Tres Semillas Restaurant, our multi-use sports field is available for Soccer, Baseball, Volleyball, Football, and other sports. Buenaventura has a collection of Soccer Jerseys from around the world, and when groups visit, everyone gets to wear a jersey and we play our own little version of the World Cup!

If you like to garden, you are welcome to put your green thumb to work on the Buenaventura Organic Farm. You can plant some seeds; uproot some yucca or other veggies for your dinner; weed some flowerbeds, or simply just hang out and enjoy the tranquility of the garden.

Make Sugar Cane Juice

Learn how to make sugar cane juice! Gerardo will teach you how to make sugar cane juice, a local method that's been used for Sugar cane for generations. The sugar cane is grown locally on the Buenaventura Organic Farm. Sugar cane juice is used to sweeten fresh tropical drinks, coffee, etc.



Milk A Cow!

This is one activity that everyone who visits must do at least once. Just think, instead of going to the fridge to get your morning milk for your coffee, you squeeze out a pint of fresh milk for your morning coffee, and later used to make cheese and fresh cream for your future meals. Cow milking happens every morning!
